Buying from China? Check postage dates.

Unlike me....

If buying from China check the postage dates, purchased something late at night a last minute thing as i was shutting the computer down for bed....

Just checking my sales to leave feedback and spotted the estimated delivery date APRIL!!!

Silly me... Although it's probably because of Brexit, yeah i blame Brexit :)

Do i hope it turns up sooner or buy more from elsewhere???
Kicking myself, at least its less than £5.

I find things coming from China often arrive more quickly than those coming from 20 miles down the road!
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

I don't :( I buy a fair bit from China and have several things into about week 6 now with no sign of delivery at all. Every now and then something will surprise me and turn up in a week or two, but it seems to be getting slower all the time at the moment.

Luckily it's nothing expensive, mainly bits and pieces for craft work so I have learnt to buy well before I run out and allow the weeks and weeks for delivery.

Longest for me so far was 93 days.

Ebay really "annoys me" provide your own expletives :)

How hard should it be to find a UK seller of a small electronic item???
3 pages through and its still Chinese sellers with UK addresses but long delivery dates. 22 Feb onwards. Why is there no filter to remove those with long delivery times?

Bought 5 of them off Amazon, paid a bit extra but they are arriving TODAY.

  • The worst is when they list as the item is in the UK and gives the expected delivery date as very quick but then takes weeks.

Yeah, I do tend to think any seller that states 8days or more is probably not being sent from the UK.

But as small electrical items are so cheap from Chinese sellers there are waves of them, if the postage said 3 or 4 days then i would have a glimmer of hope, when its 10 days i know whats going to happen, they will tell me to wait a few more days which will take it through the 14 day average that most of my items take.

That doesn't bother me quite so much as sellers end up out of pocket and rarely continue lying about location . Just open an INR as soon as you can, as that will be based on the estimated delivery date originally shown when you bought, and get a refund. If item eventually turns up tell seller that you are happy to return it if they provide you with a return postage label.

  • chinese new year starts tomorrow (30th) , aliexpress are saying Jan. 30st to Feb. 10th will be extended by 12 days. for dispute claims etc

so the 5 chinese sellers who employ many thousands of people (most have own email address) will be closed as well

A timely reminder -CHinese new year can cause huge delays . I do watch some items in categories favoured by Far East sellers and it is this time of year that seems to see a few fall by the wayside. On places like Ali they just randomnly extend the delivery time, I had one that extended to nearly 3 months before I could start a dispute! However on eBay there is a limit and buyers who are aware that they only have a defined window in which to open a claim can get the claim open and closed before item even leaves China, and many sellers fail just to reopen with a different name a few days later. The buyers that lose out are those who fall for the 'please be patient it is on its way' story and who time out for opening a claim. Same on Amazon, there is a limit to how Far they can extend their delivery times and buyers need to watch the limit for an A-Z claim.

Personally I wouldn't be buying anything from China now until at least mid Feb to give them a chance to catch up.
