I was just a bit confused when the OP said "but with holidays changing". I wasn't aware that they were.0 -

Well they have in Sheffield this year, as I already alluded to, but only at Easter: we now get the first two week of April off no matetr when Easter is, in an attempt to standardise the term lengths either side of it. Sensible really as if Easter is early or late it means either the winter or spring/summer term is ridiculously long
Means this year the kids have 2 weeks off, then go back for 4 days, and then get a long 4 days weekend. Worked to our advantage as been able to book a dirt cheap city break the first week of April.
Maybe that is what he means, I have no idea.0 -

Conversely, it should alleviate pressure on flight availability, as parents with sprogs aren't all condensed into teh save few days/weeks.0 -

Newcastle is our local airport but everytime we go on holiday,( 5 time last year ) the airport and normally the flight is full of Scots as the price of holidays from Scotish regional airports is often a lot more than the fuel/rail fare to travel down.0 -
Certainly staying within England, the weeks adjoining the August bank holiday Monday are often very very much cheaper than the previous week for caravan holidays. There can be huge differences.0

That was my point, if English schools are not on holiday and Scottish ones are it is often a better deal for the Jocks to travel to NCL.Newcastle is our local airport but everytime we go on holiday,( 5 time last year ) the airport and normally the flight is full of Scots as the price of holidays from Scotish regional airports is often a lot more than the fuel/rail fare to travel down.
Other factors have come into the Newcastle equation recently - AFAIK there now no longer any package holiday deals to Portugal from Scotland by Tui or Thomas Cook, although Jet2 may still do them.0 -
A half hour playing around with a flight only website should give a strong guide to when the schools are out! Jet2.com, for example, show a full month at once so you can see at a glance when it’s cheaper.0
