Baillie Gifford Shin Nippon - gearing

Does anyone know if BGS has used gearing over the last five years? BGS currently shows at 100% gross gearing on HL so I’m wondering if no gearing is policy or whether gearing was a factor in it out-performing the equivalent OEIC, Baillie Gifford Japanese Smaller Companies, in 2015 (when its NAV was c.13% stronger) and 2017 (c.11% stronger).

I emailed BG to ask the question and they replied "I can confirm that there is 10% gearing in place with regard to Baillie Gifford Shin Nippon. It would appear to be an error on the HL website and we shall contact them to rectify." So it is a geared IT.0

Platform websites are OK for rough and ready research but shouldn't be relied upon. The company's factsheet is a better source of reliable data
