Returning an online purchase

No they were provided.
Unfortunately my idea of what it would cover didn’t transfer over when I actually had it in my house.
As I have read, this is very common when buying online, and due to this you have extra protections when buying online.
Such as being able to say that the item is not right and sending it back within 14 days without having to give a reason.
I imagine it’s annoying for the business, but that’s business.
I’m just trying to act within my rights. I was willing to pay the return postage - despite them not supplying me any information about as has been suggested above that they should have, but I’m not happy with them slapping on lots of extra costs with a blatant attempt to put people off trying to return goods.0 -
One thing to note it is permitted to make a deduction for diminished value if you handling of the goods goes beyond what could be achieved in store so make sure the return is in perfect condition.
Given they've tried to charge a restocking fee before seeing the goods they'd need a watertight excuse to make a deduction for the above. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Thanks - how do I proceed now?
Currently they’re only stating that they’ll refund the £159.99...0 -
I would start by returning it tracked, and include a letter stating that a refund of £X is due and enclosing a copynof regulations reinforcing this.
If they are not forthcoming, contact your credit card company for a full refund.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thank you.
I still have no idea how much I should expect back.
The bag on its own was £189.99.
The shipping and handling was £29.95.
Am I correct that I have to pay the return postage? (I have no problem with this btw).0 -

Is it not the truth that you discovered it was too heavy to fix to your walls?0 -
Hi Hollydays,
Yes I had wanted to put it in one area of my house but the wall wouldn’t take it in that spot.
I then spent the weekend cutting out the ceiling to see if I can attach it in other ways in that spot but it’s not an option.
I don’t have any other space that it can fit in unfortunately, otherwise I would simply put it up in another spot.
As far as I am aware however, the reason for wishing to return is irrelevant?
It says I can send it back within the 14 days for no reason at all?0 -
Thank you.

Have you unpacked it in any way?
You are entitled to examine it as you would be able to do in a shop. Anything more than this then deductions can be made.
If you merely got it out the box then put it back without unwrapping it, then claim a full tefund of what you initially paid.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
