Yeh not sure if they are totally knowledgble. I have had them twice come upto me and tell me to use the cheque machines when they don't take large company cheques. Even though I tell them it won't work, they insist. I go to do it, it fails and they reply "oh sorry I guess you were right".

However, they are also very polite and friendly.

Really? I've paid in a bankers' draft at HSBC's machines before, and these are pretty much the same as company cheques (it was a larger than normal one). The Halifax machines (which look similar to the HSBC ones) accept pretty much any cheque.

(Although I guess the technology in the Halifax machines is quite different to HSBC's, as theirs accept cash and cheques, and will actually read the cheques when you deposit them).

Odd. I guess they won't have the exact same models in each branch so some could be different I guess?
