Thanks, I didn't think to search in my deleted emails! Just did it and it was there - the email was from the Times: noreply@info.thetimes.co.uk and it said:
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Times+, our exclusive subscriber rewards programme, we’re offering you the chance to win 12 months’ complimentary digital access to The Times and The Sunday Times

But I'm not a subscriber and never have been (I assumed they had my email from a competition I'd entered in the past?) so I didn't think the competition would be for subscribers only when I posted it...

Thanks at least it is not a subscription one so anybody can enter. Well if they ever fix it.
