That's a fair point, but what I was getting at is, its still not like a pair of knickers where them being worn just once could reasonably disqualify an item from being returned, never mind simply opening the packet to inspect the garment as these T&C's forbid.

I was of the opinion that an item shouldn't have to be faulty for you to decide you don't want it when you actually get to see it in person but I'll go with the consensus that I was incorrect.

Anyway, it's up to her to decide what she wants to do now. Thanks for the constructive replies.

I'm unsure why anyone would expect a business to offer free returns - why should they stump up because your friend didn't know their size / ordered the wrong size?
An element of personal responsibility definitely comes into things like this!
