Hi, me and my husband are looking at getting a joint account and don’t know what the best way to do it is as we have all the bills coming out of separate accounts. We have one income going into my husband’s account
I have a savings account and he has an overdraft that we cannot get out of so we need an account that will let us have both
Thank you

Hi,
Are you wanting to keep your husbands account open? are you wanting the overdraft to be paid off with the new overdraft on the new account? How much is this? You may find you don't get enough to cover it if its a largeish amount.
You can open a joint account with any bank, so probably best to have a look which ones you have on your high street just incase you ever need to go into the branch.
Good luck and keep us posted with what you decide to do.

If you're not prepared to pay off his (or is it down to both of you?) overdraft with your savings, perhaps agreed as a loan, then are you sure it's a good idea to financially associate yourselves? (assuming you're not already associated via a mortgage for example).
By all means get an account such as the one suggested by xylophone above for the bills, but he ought to look at moving to Nationwide FlexDirect for his personal account, being as it offers a 0% overdraft for the first 12 months...subject to status (and T&Cs) of course! Could he/you/both of you clear it in 12 months if it was interest free?0
