Does partners salary not come into play with these things?
They ask for my partner salary when you do the eligibility check you see
That takes our overall income to 44k a year

Very few lenders take partners income into account, understandably enough.
  • Oh I see. Why do they ask for it then on most eligibility checks and most applications?

I just checked my report and my total available credit is £12,150

I have used £8,425 of it

But isn't that what people do? Use the credit and then want to shift it to a balance transfer card

I'm paying them off but that aqua card is ridiculous. Learnt my lesson anyway. Once paid off it'll never be used again

I'm not sure how I can do anything different on my report to give myself more of a chance of a) getting any balance transfer card and b) ever getting any chance of getting a decent card with decent interest rather than this ridiculous high interest cards like aqua and capital one

Because a few lenders will take it into account. It also gives an indication of lifestyle and risk.

You need to get your credit usage down. Once the car loan has updated, that may be enough, but you're severely over utilised.

Lenders cannot trust that you won't simply spend the new credit and be twice as much in debt, as many people seem to enjoy doing.

I really feel for you, unfortunately banks don’t care. I read on this forum somewhere ‘Banks give you an Umbrella when the sun shines and they take it away when it’s raining.’ And that is the truth of it.
Don’t despair though, once your credit report is updated try again.
And one more thing budget as much as you can to get yourself out of debt, change your spending ways before its to late. Good luck...
