Royal Mail Damage Claim Rejected

Place the phone in a rigid container, which is ideally the correct size for the item.

Was the cardboard box a rigid container?

Was in the original iPhone box, inside bubble then in larger cardboard box with more bubble as the various accessories wouldn't fit.

I'm happy to say it was a rigid container - my brand new phone, Direct from Three was sent in a mailing bag with no padding whatsoever!
  • An Update!

Royal mail have rejected my appeal against their original decision citing 'the packaging provided - by manufacturers, is usually designed to withstand the journey through the postal system'

However there is no mention of my additional and considerable packaging provided - Again which exceeds the advice given by RM on posting phones?!

It closes with giving me to option to contact the postal review panel

Where next? Is the postal review panel likely to consider my claim and do they, the postal review panel, have any jurisdiction on claims already denied?

Be grateful if anyone has any dealings with the P R P

Sorry but I also find it highly improbable that any amount of mishandling by Royal Mail would cause the screen to break...

I would go so far as to say that if my phone was packaged as you describe, I’d happily drop it for a 4th floor balcony, safe in the knowledge it would be safe.....

    Sorry...agree with Royal Mail

Edit: not suggesting you are to blame either.....I’d be more inclined so suspect the recipient, deliberate or accidental

The damage to the packing wasn't visible till it was opened, by buyer, box heavily pushed in on one side like it had been trodden on or squashed against something.

There is no way that much damage could be sustained during transit and for it not to be clearly visible before the package is opened. If the way you have described the packaging is accurate the item could not have been damaged whilst travelling through the postal system.

This really sounds like it's been damaged before or after delivery, if you posted it undamaged then it must have occurred at the other end.
