Old NTL port new VM hub

Hello.
I wasn't sure if this was better placed in the internet/phone forum but that seems more about the contract and deal (apologies if this is the wrong place).
It looks like I'm going to be in this flat for a while so I've just signed up for the VM fibre broadband offer.
I know this flat used to have fibre internet and so when I was going through the options I went for self install (possibly a mistake...).
The kit has arrived and it all looked simple so I pulled out the furniture and tried to figure out 'tab A into slot B'
Help...
The guide says older boxes may be called NTL (and this one is so good so far) and it says to firmly push the red end of the cable into the port that looks like the picture.
The port is so close to the floor I can't see it (they're both on the bottom of the box) and there seems to only be two ports and both already have cables in them (which doesn't match the pictures in the guide).
Feeling around, neither cable feels like it's supposed to come out. They don't obviously unscrew and the 'collars' around the cables are completely smooth so don't match the little wrench provided. The new cable doesn't fit into the end of the old cable.
Is this something I can do myself or do I need to book someone to come and fix it for me?
Pictures of the specifics to follow as soon as I've figured out how to upload them (excuse the dust... I obviously need to clean behind the furniture more often;)).
Thank you in advance

Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

If it was me I would unscrew the front panel to get a better look. I believe the cable would connect to the TV port as when I last had Virgin a slitter was used to create connections for internet and TV.
Generally the connections are screw fitting (f connectors).0 -
Thanks - two questions
1. can I get electrocuted by anything in the box
2. once the front is off the box... how do I know which port is which?Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

Where do those cables go and what connectors are on the end of them?0

They're both coax cables and neither are connected to anything.
There was VM in the flat about 4/5 years ago and I assume they were to do with that but the ports are slightly smaller than the new cable provided from VM with the quickstart kitAlmost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

Okay... Front taken off box and both cables are evidently unscrewable.
As they're not connected to anything I assume I can unscrew both...
Any clue as to which port I want to attach the new cable to?Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

I've got the same NTL box on the wall. I've taken the cover off many times to decorate and all is good.
Inside you should see something like the image below - However on mine instead of sayong "out" "out" it says something like "TV" "Broadband" so you know what is what.0 -
That is a splitter so should work on either0

Call Virgin and tell them your installation is an original NTL installation and causing problems. One cable is for internet, the other TV.
They will arrange an engineer's visit to rip everything out and affix the latest boxes. We had a phone problem last year and he fixed that and upgraded all our original boxes.
BTW you won't get electrocuted from the cable splitter box.0
