Moving away from Insurer

Hi All,

I have a multicar policy with Admiral, they insure myself, my daughter and my home and the policy is due for renewal on the 10/02/19.

I had my renewal on the 12th Jan and the policy is up by nearly 400 pounds. At the time of this renewal, I had max NCB on my car and home, my daughter is 23 and has 3 years NCB.

On the 15th Jan I was at home getting quotes and Admiral were ridiculously higher than Churchill, Aviva etc.

Unfortunately, that same day my daughter was involved in an accident, the Police looked at her Dash Cam and has emailed her to say she was not accountable.

Whilst Admiral and the other party fight it out to see who is to blame, my daughter's NCB has been lost but will be reinstated if Admiral win the case.

With the renewal only a few weeks away I have already received a revised renewal price and it's an additional 480 pounds.

I was already looking to move away from Admiral based on their 1st renewal pre accident but, given my daughter's accident am I now tied to Admiral and have to take the price they give or can I still move away despite the insurers still talking about who is to blame.

Yes you can go elsewhere at renewal

You do need to disclose this outstanding unresolved claim

(You need to let Admiral decide on liability - the Police don't get involved in civil matters!)

In order to get the NCD reinstated, your insurer needs to get full recompense of their costs involved (if it results in a split liability then both sides "lose" NCD over the claim)

My concern is moving away from Admiral as planned but if I can leave while the dispute is ongoing and it's not frowned upon for leaving then great.

    Many thanks
