All electric house - not sure if spending too much?

That's a decent tariff that is:T
I doubt it'll be as good when his contract runs out.
I'm all electric as well and paying 11.5p/kwh on a single rate tariff which will increase dramatically either when the fix runs out in August or Eversmart goes bust, depending on which happens first.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
The hot water tank is an immersion heater which comes on during the night (while the cheap electric is on), not sure the exact times but is some time between 00.30 and 07.30. Don't know how I find out - it doesn't have anything on it showing times etc. It has a boost switch that we never use.0

This is what I am hoping - that the usage is high because the heating is on, and the heaters are old and therefore probably inefficient. I just don't want to get to Summer and find out it doesn't go down that much (because something else is using it!). Can EDF put my prices up before Summer though - if they see I'm using loads more than I am paying for now can they not just put my monthly cost up?0

You pay for what you use. Have you given them actual readings from the meter?0
-
This is great, thank you I will do this!
I think they set it up based on the previous owner's usage - it's a bit mysterious but we're not sure they really lived here full time (they had a pay per use meter and the house seemed weirdly un-lived in, so we think they may have been using it as a short term let or some sort of extra house (people are odd right), which may have meant they had weirdly low usage hence EDF predicting mine to be low also?)0 -
Thanks for the reply.
EDF installed the meter when I moved in and yes, that is probably what I mean - the little ipad-like thing that shows my usage for the day. I just got a bill through and I am in debit but only a little amount. I am going to start doing my own readings and keeping a spreadsheet though as you and others suggest. Thank you!0 -

(Sorry everyone else I have replied to your comments in a weird way...hopefully it makes sense!)
No storage heater in the living room just because I've only been here less than 2 months and have a long list of things to fix! I am looking at replacing it because it is rubbish - it is a pretty old looking DeLonghi. The bedrooms and hall have storage heaters and these are pretty good and set up correctly, so I definitely want the same in the living room. While I'm on the subject - anyone have any recommendations for good brands/what to look for? These look like they have been here since 1986...0 -

I'm electricity only with Economy 7, and have storage heaters but only use the one in the lounge. Bedroom and bathroom have fan heaters fitted to the wall and are only used as needed.
During the summer, my electricity bill is about £1 a day, and in winter just double that.
My water, washing machine and storage heater are all on the cheap rate, and I have a warm lounge throughout the day and well into the evening.
I'm with Eon and pay 9p a unit, cheap rate, 14p during the day, and a 6p a day standing charge.
Wow - I want this. So worth looking around for switching provider you think?0 -
