Barclays Frozen Account/Fraud Investigation

Afternoon,

I have a friend who owes me some money. She had set up monthly payments and all was going well.
Last August, she missed a payment so she went to Barclays at her end . They were adamant that the money did leave her account and had arrived in mine.
It did and it hadn't.
This then happened again. And again.
She/Barclays are now under investigation by the police and Fraud Folk. Her accounts are limited. Her employers pay into her account but she is not allowed access to more than £300 pw.
I have been told that this missing money fiasco has not just affected her and I but those recieving money into accounts with consecutive numbers.
My friend has been told it could take 18 months to sort out.

I googled. I can find nothing out there.
Is this a situation that can exist? Or am I being taken for a fool?

Sounds extremely fishy. How much of this is what she told you?

Sorry I think that happened when you gave your soon to be exfriend money. And now you are being played.:(

Easy way is to ask her to change her employers payments from her bank to yours. She will of course readily agree??

Yes all of it!! You can then give her the balance after you take your payment. You are of course helping her out and she will really be grateful:think:

Well the parts that are clearly impossible are:
"They were adamant that the money did leave her account and had arrived in mine. It did and it hadn't."

"this missing money fiasco has not just affected her and I but those recieving money into accounts with consecutive numbers" :rotfl:

"it could take 18 months to sort out"

The only bit with the potential for some truth in it is the bit about her account being restricted - probably because she has been taken to court for non-payment of other debts.

I have suggested that her pay goes into a different person's account and she says she's tried that.
Her bosses, an agency in turn employed by Royal Mail, won't do that as bank accounts are part of the id process.....
    Apparently, it's to prevent fraud.

    I could cry.

No doubt she'll have an answer for everything. I hope it wasn't a significant sum of money.

It probably was as part of the ORIGINAL ID process, but now she is who she says she is, she should be able to put her pay into any account. But answer for everything! Perhaps time to take legal advice if it is for a sizable amount still owing? if not you have lost your money. Sorry
