With respect, if you can only just afford a holiday, you can't actually afford a holiday!

So unless you can pay cash for your house, don't buy a house?

My grandma always used to say "Make sure you get what you need before you think about getting what you want."

Can you not cancell your holiday and re-book at the new price? of course you will have to work out what cancellation costs are compared with any savings on the new holiday. Also check that the holiday is deffinately still there before you cancel.
  • I take it you were happy to pay the price for your holiday at the time you booked it?

If you take the decision next year to book 3 months before you go then next year the cost may have gone up by 30% when you come to book it.

If you want to go to a set place at a set time pay a price you are happy with and then do not go and check out what the price changes too. If you are happy with a pot luck approach then book closer to the time.

    Thank you, another good idea.

How may people are on the booking if its 1, 2 or 3 you should save money by cancelling and rebooking but do check first how much your FULL deposit is and is it a proper package or has it been dynamically packaged?
Be careful you don't want to lose the new holiday having cancelled the first one.
  • Phone them up and speak to them nicely - I've previously found that they'll sort something out for you.
  • Really hard to have any sympathy. As already said, once booked, dont look again.

Had the price gone up would you be offering to pay them the extra?
