I have contents insurance on a house that I live in but my mum rents from the council. Is that ok?

I live with my mum in a council house that she rents in her name from the council.
All the things that are worth anything in the house belong to me so I set up contents insurance in my name.
Just wondering if this is ok?
The buildings insurance is the councils responsibility but I’m just concerned that the insurance company will be funny with me as my name isn’t on the tenancy agreement.
I am listed as living there.

I have power of attorney for my mum as she is poorly and deal with all he financial affairs. Don’t know if that makes a difference?

You should ask your insurance company. I think you should be ok, but my opinion means nought if your insurer disagrees.

It's your stuff, so you can insure it wherever it is.
Are your insurers aware of your situation? They normally ask if you're an owner/occupier. tenant or whatever, so you need to be sure they know. But it shouldn't stop you getting insurance.
