Seems to me you were given a chance to make another offer, when the estate agent told you they’d probably accept £180. You delayed, and lost. That’s the way it works I’m afraid.0

You could also consider that maybe the seller didn't fancy any qualified tradespeople having a look around - perhaps there was quite an issue they didn't want noticing. Maybe that's why they no longer entertained you or your offer.
I saw a couple of places that tried to make out there were more bedrooms than there actually were... that kind of salesmanship puts me right off - if they try to deceive about simple stuff like that - what else are they being inaccurate with?0 -
As someone else has already said, it is not always about the money. A friend of mine later discovered that someone had offered more for the house they bought. However, the sellers were moving next door (much bigger house) and wanted to "like" the neighbours.0
