Couldn’t sleep last night. Finally gave up at 3am and tackled Mt Washing Up after making coffee using a fork because there were no clean spoons :o I’m still not done but I did add extra washing up to the pile (some free glasses and cups I put straight in the cupboard for safety instead of washing) in a burst of productivity.

The landlord’s builder was meant to come on Wednesday to fix a couple of issues with the house. I’ve put him off two days in a row so really must let him come round today. There’s a rip in the lino I’m hoping he doesn’t mention to the landlord :o I appreciate it’ll have to come out of my deposit but don’t want to cause issues this early in the tenancy, especially as it looks like the rip happened because the lino wasn’t laid properly in the first place.

The kitchen floor wants scrubbing. My back hurts. I’m not looking forward to it. :(

I tried to check what was in the fridge (butter, spreadable cheese, mayo, and 1/3 of a cucumber going bad) and my back protested. It’s an undercounter fridge so I have to bend down every time I use it. I’m seriously tempted to get one of those £6 square tables from IKEA to put it on, would still have to bend down a bit but nowhere near as much, but that’s £6 I’d have to spend and I’m not sure those tables would be strong enough to hold a fridge (it’s a bit smaller than a typical undercounter fridge though).

It feels like all I do at the moment is spend and while I know that the spending is necessary, the debts worry me. But if I spent £130 on the debt instead of an oven, for example, I’d end up with increased ongoing costs due to the limited food I can cook and would pay less in the long run.

Sorry for all the moping. Must remember that it’s supposed to be a debt-free diary not a mope diary. :o
  • It's hard when you have to start again in a new home Tantaraza. I think you should definitely get an oven because that will save you money in the long term. Tackle the debts when you can, but one step at a time. Get your living arrangements sorted out first and then think about the debts.
