Have just read your first posts and am sorry to hear what a time you have had . Not sure how far North you are going but we Northerners are mostly a friendly lot.

You have had some great advice from HHOD about different people with DMPs so I hope you find the help you need on here.
In my day job I deal with lots of people who have mental health issues and I am always interested to read about peoples issues and how they cope etc as I can use the information to help other people if that makes sense .
I agree that your dogs should go with you if they help you , I know the PDSA has been mentioned but the RSPCA have a clinic not far from me for people who have low income , maybe there will be one near you.
Anyway I am subscribing to your diary and look forward to following your progress.

  • redofromstart Thank you :)

Cumbria lass I have a couple of friends who are Northerners (although not in the area I’m moving to) so I’m certainly hoping I’ll meet some friendly people when I move!

That does make sense, yes — in my case when I’m really low, I avoid things which makes it harder to tackle because it’s built up so I avoid it again and the issue escalates and ad infinitum :o I’m going to look into mental health support after the move, though, because I don’t want to get that low again. It’s a horrible feeling :(

Thanks for the tip though — I’ll look into the possibility of RSPCA help. At the current vets I paid a monthly fee for all the routine treatment — six monthly checkups, vaccinations, flea/worming treatment — so will look into those options when I move and see where the local vets are. :)

It looks as though the most Northern one is Greater Manchester . Maybe a vets would be the best choice .

  • Hi, followed you over from HHOD's thread and see that she has name checked me.

I am a Money Adviser as my job so I know about debt and benefits.
If you want any help give me a shout either on here or by PM.

I only skimmed your 2nd post so will go back and read but one thing that did jump out was the PCN - is it with the bailiff? It is never too late to challenge a PCN.

Could you confirm if this is a parking charge to a local authority/police or to a parking company?

Good luck with your move - it all sounds very exciting and I think you are incredibly brave to move miles away from where you currently live.
  • Good luck with the new diary and your move :)
  • I meant to make a post with a to-do list this morning but ended up falling asleep from fatigue. I appear to have caught a cold :o

Cumbria lass Thank you! It does look like a local vets would be the best option. I will ask around for recommendations after I move, but won’t need any routine treatment until April so that gives me some breathing space. :)

    Seasidegal Thank you!

Honeysucklelou Thank you, I viewed the house before applying to rent it and it’s not fabulous, but seems good enough for six months. Hopefully by July, I’ll be working (which will give me more housing opportunities) and/or have settled in and no longer be bothered by the minor issues. :)

Eager_Elephant Thank you! The PCN is a Penalty Charge Notice from a neighbouring council and now with the bailiffs. I don’t have the original notice but the bailiff said it was for driving in a bus lane. I don’t remember the incident but I don’t make a habit of driving in bus lanes, and based on the location, I suspect I made a wrong turn that I couldn’t correct (it was in a very busy city centre) so I’d be willing to pay the original PCN (£70) but not the £435 that it’s reached. _pale_ If you feel that you could advise on this matter, I’d appreciate all the info you can give, thank you! :D

    GlendaSugarbean Thank you! :)

I’m going to go to bed now before I fall asleep standing up :o and will be back at some point with that elusive to-do list...
  • I hope that your early night does you good and that you're not coming down with any sort of bug.

I'm really pleased that you're getting some great advice already and I know there'll be plenty more of that to come from the kind and knowledgeable people in diaryland.

    Sleep well :).
