Halifax mortgage process - FTB

I got my mortgage with Halifax - I went direct after getting an AIP , they offered subject to surveyor's valuation at second meeting. I already had a current account with them. I used them for the survey as they had a good deal at the time £360 for a level 2 survey and valuation. The guy that did it was really helpful. He told me what he would be looking out for, took the time to discuss afterwards and again after the report came in. I couldn't fault the service I got from them. I am sure they do it for everyone but the welcome to your new home basket was a pleasant surprise.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Our mortgage application was submitted by our MB today with Halifax, I’m so nervous although no reason to be really. We both have a good credit rating and got the AIP but so nervous that we won’t get the mortgage. I’ve recently started a new job which I’m thinking may hold it up. But I’ve banked with Halifax for 15 years and always been good so hope that goes in my favour!
So happy to hear yours went through really quick, some people have been telling me it can take a month. 😩0 -
How did you get on?
Its took a month to wxchnage contracts for us so we are over the hurdle, next one and final one is completion0 -
Hi,
my MB has just submitted my application today and instructed the bank for a valuation survey. Wondering, whats next and how long it takes to get an offer (MB said soon so though I will ask here)?
Kind regards,0 -
Hi guys
I found this thread really reassuring in that impending doom period after AIP and before offer so I thought I'd controbute our experiences..
Buying a new build with H2B, our broker (we went with the builders reccomended after doing some research and already meeting an independent broke who we unfortunately had to cancel on). AIP was recieved from Halifax within a couple days of first contact with the broker.
MB verified all documents and tried to hard sell us some insurance in our home yesterday evening, formal application was processed today around 2pm at which point I paid the surveying fee, and by 4pm I had a call back saying Halifax had accepted subject to survey which will be confirmed by the end of the week.
Cannot believe its been so fast... STILL doubting that its too good to be true :rotfl:
Halifax must just be really quick?!0
