Thanks for reading . Booked with JET2 holidays to go away in 16 days time , All inclusive 4 star break for 8 nights to south Tenerife . received an email last night saying there will be pool work going on and expect construction noise daytime (which bothers me) and one of the pool closed (which doesn't) I called the help line last night to move hotels . every hotel of the same standard in the area was over £200 more to change to . I used their website while on the phone to them looking at like for like prices for todays prices which have all gone up as expected . The hotels now are the same hotels as when I chose my hotel before Christmas . I shortlisted my choices in December to 2 hotels which in December was £6 each extra (2 adults) would be £290 total extra now . I cannot cancel without losing 90% funds . I am wondering where I stand with this . We have left it last night to still go to the same hotel and hope we are not affected too much but have raised my concerns with JET2 before we travel , awaiting their reply today. I work in construction and know how to find out when work was ordered and risk assessments done etc . Mrs greenface is not a happy bunny today . Any help or information would be great . thanks
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

Why would the noise bother you during the day, just go out ?0

Surely part of the holiday is soaking up the winter sun whilst lounging around the pool?
Maybe OP and Mrs OP don't want to go out and about? Maybe they want to have a lazy, relaxing holiday.0 -

Ask to speak to a manager and ask if they can get you into a better hotel at their cost as it is not your fault regarding the work plus explain that you cannot afford to loose your money and if not moved to a suitable hotel will be claiming for loss of enjoyment when you return.0 -

What do ABTA say about it, as Jet2 theoretically uphold their good practice guidelines. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
It hasn't happened yet, how does anyone know the extent of the 'pool work' or the expected construction noise.0

One thing i would say of the Spanish in the Canary Islands is they never seem terribly considerate of tourists when it comes to work. They tend to start early (07:30?), and work on to 18:00 or so. They also seem to communicate by shouting and enjoy hitting things with hammers for no apparent reason for seemingly disproportionately long periods.
And yes, its their islands, their working practices, their culture. Doesnt stop it being annoying though when on hols.
I'd be looking to move hotels and i'd be expecting Jet2 to facilitate that at minimal expense.
Any scope to broaden your options and look at Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria? If its all inclusive the actual island is pretty much irrespective.0 -
Many thanks to all your reply's it means a lot even the joker . thought I would reply to this one . I work in construction building houses and digging holes so the longer day the more pay ,I'm the same for most of the year , except on my hols when I like to be lazy for a few days . soak up the sunshine and forget about work . so the noise they have classed as grade 2 . explained that hotel guests would be inconvenienced during the daytime wasn't an option to us . I have been back onto them pointing out something downloaded from the which dot co webby about cancellation without loss of fees for termination . The standard of facilities that they've advertised or promoted as part of the package was missing . They've found me a similar hotel . 4 star AI for no extra either way . We are happy and place looks decent ( without any construction ) We have done all the other islands above leaving Tenerife until last .
