You would laugh at my little Nokia that only does texts and phone calls. I don't want to walk around with a screen glued to my face. It's on a PAYG, less than £5 a month. :rotfl:

The mistake in comparing the iPhone to them is simply a matter of not understanding the technology.
Modern smart phones (including the iPhone) are a multi-functional device which covers email, sat-nav, camera, music, internet, shopping, movies, chat, business contacts, messaging, chat, business systems alerting, reference, and much more.
Saying you have an old Nokia is an irrelevance.
(Oh, and I also have old iPhones 5, 4, and 3S in that box, but I gave my previous 6 to one of my sons and was going to give my current 7 to another.)0 -

The only difference being that I paid my daughter £150 for her iPhone 6 when her contract ended last year and she upgraded. And my monthly contract for unlimited texts and calls plus 3Gb data is £8 per month.
PS. And now she has finally seen sense and stopped changing her phone for a new one every two years.
I'm past the 2-year mark and dropped to SIM-only (as I said), but I will upgrade at some point.
(P.S. it's 3GB, not 3Gb, of data allowance !)0 -
Well before your fancy little chart and fancy iPhones and the internet my Mother would take out loans with Provident and pay back weekly and get it recorded on her little book so she could buy gifts.
They did serve as an early example though of the benefits of learning to defer gratification, so I’m grateful to them for that.0 -
I once bought a scientific calculator from a catalogue; if I'd saved up for it I would've got it after my exams!0

No I challenge people who seem to assume why people do certain things without actually getting to know that person. Also who think people should do as they do. And lastly try and place a person within a certain group to explain their actions. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It's really tiresome when threads like this become a competition to see who can brag about having the crappest phone, to be honest."Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0

Well, I am pleased for you, that your Apple employment isn't at risk John.
For the actual op. I don't know why you were turned down. Perhaps try to purchase a Samsung or one of the highly rated Chinese brand phones, on their credit packages and see what happens.0 -

You also don’t really get the essence of advice, do you, which is pretty much what this forum is about. That’s the whole point of advice, people using their experience to suggest things that they hope or believe will lead someone to make better choices.0
