Vauxhall Mokka Turbo Failure just out of warranty

Has the car a full Vauxhall history? If so, i'd expect Vauxhall to be contributing heavily.
It would be normal process for the dealer not to offer a contribution at this stage, but you may be able to squeeze them for a good will gesture.
Keep phoning, dont let Vauxhall UK off the hook.
Also ring and ask to speak to the General Manager in your local dealers - explain whats happening and ask can he assist in any way.
Agreed, there is no way a component like a turbo should be giving up under these circumstances.
Warranty or not, Vauxhall should be pushed hard and if needs be pursued through the small claims courts.0 -
100,000 miles for a turbo lifespan? Its not the 70's
Rover 825D 250k miles orignal turbo
Several Mondeo's with over 200,000 miles on original turbo's also.
Only 2 oil changes in 35k miles??? My car would have had at least 4 oil changes.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

You mention Mondeos so I'm assuming you've owned one or more. The service intervals on those are 12,500 miles for the diesels so a diesel Monde would have just had 2 oil changes at 35k.
Modern oils can now do 20k between changes. The one Mobil does has been tested up to over 500,000 miles with oil analysis every 5k and engine strip down at the end. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Agree my 11 plate astra has 149k on the clock still has the original turbo but it was a motoway mile muncher in the first 3 years (before it went back to vauxhall) it did 95,000 miles , then a chap bought it from bca auction and ran it till 125,000, thants when i bought it now 149k still has original turbo, clutch dpf egr, only big job was a cambelt change but looking at the history it had a lot of oil changes
the golf we have has 150k on the clock and still has the otiginal turbo but its starting to play up now overboosting every so going to get a rebuild one and pop it on
i agree turbos should last a long time providing the car is well looked after, all the long life oil changes are a load of bs and have caused so much problems with chains turbos etc... its a joke really“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. I would not dream of doing 12500 miles between oil changes. Mine gets changed much earlier.
They may have tested the oil but was that in real life conditions in a turbo diesel engine?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Some cars have condition based servicing intervals and have perhaps 15,000 miles between oil changes.0 -

I've done a total of 175,000 miles between two vehicles that were on 12,500 mile oil changes without issue, the current one now being on 141,000 miles, the previous one being on 168,000 miles when I sold it, neither having any engine or engine ancilliary issues such as turbos, EGR valves or injectors whatsoever.\
The Mobil oil was tested for normal driving for 120,000 miles, in simulated highway conditions for 500,000 miles plus also tested in quite a few taxis. Interestingly in the 500,000 mile test subject it was actuallly the gearbox that packed up.
Here's a video from Engineering Explained

18 minutes onwards shows the strip down of the 500,000 mile test unit. I would expect anyone would be happy to have an engine in that condition even at 100,000 miles. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Miles or Time (1 year which ever comes first) so based on that oil should be changed annually as a minimum“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society.
