Mastercard customers will be sent email or texts to warn them when they are approaching the end of a free trial and are about to be billed for a service, under changes to be introduced by the card scheme later this year...

The news item says "Visa also says that merchants are obliged to send a receipt after each recurring payment is made." Really? I pay for my Netflix subscription by recurring visa card debit and the only communication I get from them is telling me what programmes are being shown. Does anyone get monthly receipts from Netflix?0

Visa's guidelines for recurring payments are published at https://www.visaeurope.com/media/images/recurring%20transactions%20best%20practice%20guide_07ap-73-29563.pdf and include no such stipulation....0
