    Thanks for the feedback all, looks like I will get some legal advice. I'm just really wary of taking police advice having seen what they sometimes tell LLs to do on here over the years. As if I am going to go straight in today with a house clearance.

    Thanks for that artful, when the police come round for statement I'll see if they will do anything with that. It seems the best route to go.

    Maybe you're not going in to clear it but I would go round and check that the property is properly secured.

    Yeah I went round and its been boarded up, they made a right mess of the front door!

    Following on from artfuls advice I have found I can request a notice of letting to a disqualified person from the home office on the gov website (https://www.ending-a-tenancy.homeoffice.gov.uk/what) so that seems a reasonably straightforward route.

    Of course we do have standards in our country & until found guilty they are Innocent. The Police do sometimes get things wrong (tough job, I know..)
