Immersion heaters - when to use

Hi all
I have two immersions. Not currently on E7 but and looking to move to it when I can change tariffs.

In the mean time what is the best immersion to use to keep the electricity usage down, the top or bottom or both?

Thanks

The top immersion heater will heat a small amount of water - e.g. enough to wash-up dishes, but not enough for a bath.

The bottom immersion heats the whole tank

Yeah. Though having a nice hot tank of water stored will help keep your home a little warmer. It's only a problem in the summer. :)

It's best not to use either if you are attempting to keep your electricity usage down. :money:

I have actually only been using the top, as the bottom wasn’t working. The top was providing enough water for two hot showers or a bath.

Makes sense the bottom will use more energy. I’ll use just the top one for now.

    Thanks all

Perhaps the immersion is too far down. Looking at it, it’s further than half way, probably about 60% of the way down. I’m thinking that maybe the tank is too big for a one bed!
