Hi
I am after advice. We rent our house and today we received a letter from a plumbing and heating service company. stating they will be coming around next friday to do a service and if we are not in the letting agents will supply them with a key.
The question is can the letting agents do this as we have not been contacted by them to let us know this is happening.
I am not against letting them in as it only benefits us. its that we have not been asked if we are available or is it ok to let the plumbers in as we have no idea who they are.
Thanks
K

The choice is yours.
The letting agents 'can' do this, you can say no.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
Did you agree to this in your AST agreement. If not, they cannot just let people in without your agreement.
Of course, making it more difficult may increase costs. There is only one person who pays these additional costs.

So, they want to make sure that the heating is both safe and running properly. Why wouldn't you want them to do this?
So they might come round when you're not in, so you don't suffer any inconvenience. Do you think the workman will want to do anything other than get the job done asap and get home?0 -

Usually a letter would say that they intend to visit at that time unless you contact them to say it is inconvenient.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

If the letter didn't come from the agent directly I would be inclined to call or email the letting agents just to confirm that the information is correct. Also I think I would ask that the agents contact me directly in future about such things.0

You really can't help some people. Pick up the phone and arrange a more conveniebnt date, or be bloody minded and refuse to help yourselves. Your choice really, no one here can tell you what to do.Hi
