You asked the question if they could be trusted. Someone said yes, you said you didn't believe they could be trusted. So again, what is the point of the question if you dismiss the feedback you get and only want to hear people telling you what you want.

The cases above all prove that firms who either lie or made silly mistakes get fined lots so there is every incentive for them to not make large mistakes or lie.

Your initial worry has no legs because a completely unrelated firm has made a mistake.

    Oh dear........
At last count i had about a dozen firms to contact and Argos was my first one, I asked the question because of the way most of the UK's financial institutions have conducted themselves over the last few decades that is where my suspision comes from, of course you may be a banker and think they have done nothing wrong.

Of course when you ask one question you will always get different views and i have no issues with that, the majority seem to think i have nothing to worry about so that saves me having to hunt out tons of paperwork for nothing at this stage, oh by the way my reply to zx81 i thought was fair enough, I thanked him for his reply and told him i did not trust them, what is so wrong with saying i don't trust them, it's only my POV anyway i don't want to waste any more time on going over old ground.
Again thanks to everyone for your feedback.

Alternatively, he could simply think that the Banks can be trusted to act honestly and openly in the situation you describe because the alternative is a huge fine.

Can I ask why you still haven't made any PPI complaints?

You asked for Claims Company recommendations in a thread last October, which means you have wasted fully three months of the final year when PPI complaints may be made!

    Do get a move on..

Perhaps you'd like to tell us also why you think Claim Companies can be trusted, while lenders cannot?

Ah the good old "you must be a schill" line, have the school holidays started already?

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If you look at that thread i think i explained i had suffered a stroke and this has left me with some mental/physical health problems, the biggest problem for me at least is finding the motivation and my concentration levels have gone through the floor, so i will do something for a while a just forget and move on to something bit like the guys who are always starting DIY jobs and never finish them.

I'm trying to but i do have other things to worry about given events in my life over the last 6 months, i do want to get some money back but other things have taken priority over gatting a few hundred/thousand pounds back, money is important but it's not everything and you come to see this when you have something like a stroke, hopefully you will never find out.

I never said CMC can be trusted.

As for lenders not being trusted I have to ask why this forum is here, it's because they screwed us that's why i don't trust them, they provide a needed service and i and i suspect the vast majority of people are happy to pay a fair price for their service but when folks get shafted i think it's fair people get refunds and that is all we are trying to do, if you and others want to trust them 100% then that is fine, me, I'm just a wee bit more sceptical that's all, by the way i don't trust CMC but at least with people like the claims guys you know where you stand, i think the figure was 25% they wanted, it's up to you and others to work out if they are worth it but at least they are up front, unlike so many lenders in the past

I wouldn't necessarily trust them, mainly in terms of them making a mistake (quite possibly due to under-funding their customer service teams) rather than deliberately lying.
Which is why I would always keep my side of the paperwork.

If you've got your paperwork then I'd trust that over what the bank says.
If you haven't got your paperwork then you have little choice but to trust what the bank says.

For someone who has much more pressing things today than make PPI complaints, you certainly find a considerable amount of time to moan on here - Submit your complaints, they will either hold records or not, if you have records then provide them no point wasting time waiting to find out if they say they do or not this is petty and pointless and will cause further delays - the business will then consider your complaint reasons and either uphold or reject your complaint - it’s all really rather simple!!
