Car Warranty

Hello. First time posting on here so apologies if I have not seen a related thread.

Back in Jan/Feb 2018 I purchased a car warranty on a monthly rolling contract through MotorEasy. I paid £29.99 P/M for this as a continuation of a manufacturers warranty. When it came to making what seemed like a perfectly valid claim against my vehicle I was told that the warranty didn't cover this as i was in the first 30 days which infact i had well over 7 months and was not a covered unit.. Cut a long story short i complained saying i had been lied to and supplied false documents as it said it was a covered item and i was over the 30 day period. They did retract and said on this occasion they would cover it. I asked to the claim fee on this occasion to be waivered as i submitted a claim but they seen it was 2 separate claims and therefor i was about to be charged twice.

I have since cancelled my plan with immediate effect but i did wonder where i would stand with obtaining a refund?

I also know of another customer of mine who had an issue where they would not pay out.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks In Advance

    This doesn't make sense.

He bought the car in Jan/Feb. Seven months later, (Augustish) he claimed on the warranty, but was told there was no claim in the first 30 days of cover (presumably to prevent fraudulent claims for pre-existing issues).

If the cover was as an "extension to the manufacturers' warranty", and that warranty had expired in Julyish, it's entirely feasible that the aftermarket warranty was only started in the 30 days before the claim was lodged. Why double-up on the manufacturer's warranty with a less-comprehensive aftermarket one?

There may well be an argument for the £29.99 premiums for those first months being refunded, though. But for the months of cover since? Not a hope. Apart from anything else, I doubt there's a refund for a warranty that's been claimed on.

However - it may well be that the £29.99 is for finance covering the annual premium. If that is the case, then apart from there definitely being no refund, so long as the premium for the time covered is charged, then whether the payments started before the cover is irrelevant.

The OP says a rolling monthly contract - presumably he'd always be within the 30 days if it's a rolling contract i.e. renewed each month?

What do you want a refund of? You had a policy, you made a claim on it, they eventually paid out. I'm failing to see what loss you've suffered.
