Dental costs if son is working full time?

Myself and my wife are on ESA and PIP and son has a full time job and he is 18 years old and he needs to see the dentist.

would he need to pay for his treatment if me and his mum is on ESA and PIP?

he lives with us as well.

Your son is an independent working adult.

I don't see why he shouldn't pay for his dental treatment.

As he's working full time then yes he'll need to pay. Your ESA claim has got nothing to do with him.

If he's on low income the NHS low income scheme will help but he'll need to fill out a form for this and wait for a decision before claiming any free treatment.

Yes he needs to pay. Here are the list of NHS dental charges:

    https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/dentists/understanding-nhs-dental-charges/

Most including check up will be band 1, £21.60 or band 2, £59.10

It is not that straight forward!! He may qualify as having a low income so will either get free treatment or help with his treatment at least. Make sure he's with an NHS dentist and receiving NHS treatment not private and he may be able to claim back any treatment he has had in the last three months.
All those of you thinking that its only right he pays as he is working full time. Do you know how much an 18 year old gets even if they are doing the same work as a 40 year old or harder work and have been there longer? its disgusting!!

Why drag up something from Jan?

Hopefully the son has been to the dentist by now.

He will not qualify for free treatment simply because a parent or parents are in receipt of benefit. He is classed as an adult now, and any entitlement to free treatment will be dependant on his own situation, and local rules.

Thanks poppy12345. I hadn't notice the original date. Why do people reactivate old threads!?
