Poor credit rating

Hi,
After being refused a credit card we’ve recently discovered our credit rating is poor. There are 6 positives and 1 negative (according to Experian). How do we go about finding out what the negative is so that we can either rectify it or avoid it in the future? Last year we had a very good score and are financially better off this year. We’re hoping to get a mortgage in the next few weeks but don’t know if this will affect us.
Thanks

Don't worry about the scores. They're not real and you're the only one to see them. Also take no notice of what Experian classes as a positive or negative.
Have a look at the data on all three of your files (not just Experian) and see what appears. The main things to worry about are defaults, late payments, CCJs, being on the ER.
The next next level down is to make sure you're not carrying too much debt, or have excessive limits.
If you need help, post up what you see and someone will lend a hand.0 -
Yes, find out what this negative thing is and sort it out.0

Getting a mortgage in the next few weeks, oh boy it could be a while to get sorted.
You missed any credit card payments or phone bills ?
Do you use direct debits for bills ?0
