Hi
I recently purchased a new Samsung Galaxy J6. I am trying to access Bixby but I cannot find it on my phone. There is no icon for Bixby. I assume it was preloaded by Samsung. I am not sure what it does or whether it is necessary but I would like to have access to it. Can I download it from the Pay Store?
Thanks

Bixby is Samsung's Voice Assistant (like Alexa or Siri).
There are some instructions here on installing it on a J6... use at your own risk. Unfortunately, it's more complicated than just downloading from the Play Store.

I am tempted to install it on my S6, though.
There's a Samsung-sponsored video here that goes through some of the basic functions.

Is Bixby any better than OK Google?

Yup, nothing but bad things are said about it.
In fact, the main saving grace of a Galaxy S9 over S8 was that you could turn bixby off on the S9, therefore making it superior!
So I would stick with "OK google"Friendly greeting!0 -

It's the Note 9 that they have disabled the easy turn off in. Even so, there is a way to turn it off in developer mode. I've done it on mine.
For the OP. Don't bother trying to load it onto your phone. You won't gain anything that you don't already have with Google Assistant, which is far superior.
I like Samsung products, but feel they've been forced down the route of having their own AI assistant and are playing catchup.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Most people seem to be asking how to turn it off ... make of that what you will!
I find 'ok google' works for me ... use it mostly in the car.0
