You have the V5c?
If you do and the car has valid MOT, not sure about the VED - you need a V317 form.0 -
It can be done on line these days, you get a new registration mark and an electronic document to allow the new number plates to be made pretty much instantly.
The new V5 and the retention certificate usually follows a week later.0 -
If it is currently SORN (or taxed) you don't actually need an MOT, but they might want to inspect it- to prove it exists I suppose.
If it isn't SORN (or taxed) you might have trouble as some very old registrations have been re-allocated (= sold for big money by DVLA)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

You can register a car online without having the V5C (logbook) and have a new one in a few days. Are you sure?
Without the new keepers slip they usually contact the registered keeper and tell them someone is trying to register their car which delays things.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The car is now in trade... so will I need to register me as the keeper instead?
Thus I have the logbook, but not my name on it. So I can change keeper to me online, how would I then get the plate so I can scrap the vehicle? Bearing in mind I don't want the plate on another vehicle yet as I'm gonna sell it.
In response to another reply... vehicle is insured, no tax, no mot0 -
