Hello
Has anyone re-mortgaged at the end of their initial 5 year Help To Buy equity loan interest free period and had a government valuation? Interested to hear experiences in process, government valuation v market valuation, ease of which re-mortgage was sought/obtained, time frame, other costs involved, etc.

There is no government valuation. The HTB equity loan redemption/staircasing is based on standard RICS valuation or sale price.
The process takes from weeks to months based on the local HTB Agent. Target are notorious for being hopelessly slow.0 -
There is no local HTB Agent for staircasing/redemptions etc, only for sales, so don't go back to Orbit, BPHA etc.
All post-sales issues are handled by Target;-

Using a remortgage, your surveyor's valuation determines the price/value. If you are selling, it's the higher of the agreed price and your surveyor's value which rules.I am a mortgage broker.
