PCN for loading/unloading

Hi,
I received a PCN yesterday at 8.32pm whilst collecting a customer's food order (deliveroo), I was parked on double yellow lines. I arrived there at the same time as another deliveroo rider and we were both in and out in just a few minutes, yet only my car was ticketed - the ticket officer said I was their 1st. This is concerning as it looks like they're targeting deliveroo workers. The officer suggested parking over half a mile away on a single yellow, which is ridiculous.

Having done some research it appears loading/unloading is allowed on double yellow lines as long as no signage exists to suggest otherwise, and vehicle isn't restricting access or blocking. My car was parked in the safest most convenient place not illegally.

I intend to appeal this on the unloading/loading basis and no viable alternative. Also there is discriminating case to be made as there was 2 parking officers and 2 vehicles yet only mine was ticketed.

Any advice would be gratefully recieved...

Thank you

Jody Gray

  • Ok and thank you for the link. The reason why so many people just pay is due to the time taken to research the law on the issue which as is in this case very cloudy.
My opinion for what it's worth is common sense should be applied, sadly there are many people who go by the letter of the law, these are guidelines and do not take account of mitigating circumstances as is clearly not possible.
By issuing tickets to people doing their jobs in a safe and practical manner they are alienating themselves.
I will appeal and no doubt be rejected, and pay the ridiculous reduced charge.
To conclude I will never understand the motive of these idiots who believe penalising someone in this way is justified.

No, appealing once to get the expected first rejection and offer of the discount/bribe to shut up, then paying (making the first effort pointless) is NOT how to win Council PCN cases.

If you want to win and pepipoo feel you have a case, you take it to adjudication. Most cases are won with pepipoo help as they are the experts.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
