Fuel pump failed again- what to do?
I have a Vauxhall Zafira 2.2, it’s a 2006 with 94k on the clock. Six months ago the fuel pump failed, I sent it off for repair and had it put back in my car, it’s worked perfectly until now. So, I don’t want to have it repaired again, so the only option is a new one at £500 plus labour, so about £700. I’ve had it to the garage twice already in the last six months to the tune of £400, so would I be throwing good after bad?
Question is, do I pay the £700 to get it fixed or sell it as a non runner and try to finance another car? With selling the car I can muster together about £800, but having looked I’d need about 2.5k for something decent
so i have a significant shortfall.
I know it’s not money saving, but I DO need a car and don’t want to get into discussions of getting by without
Thanks

any chance a garage can do a customer supplied part fit?0 -

How sure are you that it is the fuel pump? Have you spoken to the garage that did the repair? If it is the fuel pump that is gone again then I'd be thinking this is a symptom of a different problem.
Personally, I prefer the devil I know to the one I don't when it comes to cars and at £800 you will be buying a car with problems. Question is will they be easier to deal with than your current ones!0 -
There was I believe a six month warranty which will have now expired, I’ve emailed the person that repaired the pump in case.
It’s being seen by the garage tomorrow. I’m damn near sure it’s the fuel pump, same warning lights, loss of power, same codes on the diagnostics, only thing that is different is that it says two cylinders are misfiring, last time it was only one. I’d love it to be something else, but assuming it isn’t, I can’t figure what to do for the best and I’ll need to tell the garage what I want them to do0 -
high pressure fuel pumps for these are about £600,eurocarparts are £934.99 listed at the moment0

OP you say the HPFP was changed but was the fuel regulator? They should be changed as a pair.
