Have you tried doing a daily or weekly meter read to try and see when its all being used.
Closer monitoring of your consumption will give you a much better idea of what is going on rather than waiting for a monthly or qurterly bill. You'll also be able to see whether adjusting your heating and hot water timings and temperatures will make any difference.
Dont forget that at this time of the year, just turning the heating on for an hour or two will cause it to flog it's heart out until the place has warmed up or the timer switches off again.
Check your hot water timings as well, do you really need an extra hour in the evening. Try just an hour at a time which suits your lifestyle - we can get away with heating the tank for just over an hour a day in the ornings and it gives us enough hot water right through to the next day, including a couple of showers - there's no big advantage in heating your tank so it's full of hot water overnight
What sort of controls have you got and where are they situated, I'm guessing that Potterons have made 50 different types/models of boiler in the last ten years so a bit more info might get you more help.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

ba_lamb I am still inclined to think this is a metering issue of some nature. Even runnings my bedridden MIL's heating at 23 C round the clock that only consumes 33 KWh a day in winter
Can you post your meter readings of the last 12 months please ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Robin, 33kwh of gas? Really for 23c all day.4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.0
