Ppi lloyds credit card

Hi everyone.. I used Resolver in early December to make a claim for my PPI insurance on a credit card I had back in 2001-2004.. like so many I was told I had to have this or I could not have the card. I have just got in and see there is a message on my phone from Lloyds saying before they can process my claim they need to speak to me. What advice can anyone give me please as to what I should say to them? They are calling me back shortly so I hope to hear from someone soon. Thank you

Answer their questions truthfully and don't make up anything.

Thank you zx81 .. I would have been truthful, I was just concerned a little as to what they want to discuss with me, given that if it had been dealt with by a ppi claims company for example, they would not have been speaking to me at all. There is a lot I do not recall as it was a long time ago, all I can remember with accuracy is that I was told I could only have the card (and a bank loan) if I agreed to take out PPI as they did not consider my earnings enough at the time to warrant either without the insurance..makes you wonder why they let me have a card and a loan then doesn't it? So thank you for that I will say and not be afraid to do so.. if it scuppers anything so be it. I will come back and update after the phone call. I have felt uncomfortable about claiming it back from a bank where I have my main current account and an existing credit card, I imagine this is a common feeling.0

If you'd used a claims company, they would still be speaking to you, as the claims company wouldn't know anything. They only post the forms off and take a cut of the fees.
It's standard that the lender might want to clarify a few points, but nothing to be worried about.0 -
I think I may have posted my thanks to you in the wrong manner, ie another post as opposed to a reply.. sorry. Not a newbie here but may as well be it seems. I rang them as they asked me to return the call, I was asked a lot of questions, some of a personal nature, ie circumstances at the time I took out the policy and health related questions too, income etc. All this was noted on the Resolver form. I answered everything asked of me and as you advised, where I could not remember I stated as such. I was able to remember my own circumstances naturally but it transpires it was 2 years further back than I had remembered when I claimed. It was advised that this information would now go to their research team and be considered thereafter. I am glad I came on here first for reassurance.0

Good afternoon... they called again today for more information related to my personal circumstances not just from before the card was given to me but up to present day. I find that quite intrusive actually although I did answer all questions asked and had to give the verbal yes you can share/save this information. I told the advisor today that I spoke with his colleague yesterday and was advised by him that the person I spoke with yesterday is not my Caseworker and therefore did not have access to the Resolver form I had sent in. So this information again was something I had to reaffirm and confirm that they could include it in the claim. I am not sure if anything I have told them means I have shot myself in the foot as far as a claim is concerned but I have told them the truth about all that they asked of me. I feel that my ongoing health problem is now weighing against me and quite heavily.. yet they seem to be shifting away from the reason for me making this claim in the first instance which was that I was told in no uncertain terms that I could not have the card or a subsequent bank loan a few years later, unless I took the PPI... I get their motives here and feel that this will be what they will use to avoid paying me. None of my friends who have used a company to claim PPI have had any phone calls from anyone except the company and one friend had none and was given money she did not even realise she had been owed.. she had not even made the claim.. her name was picked up by the company when checking her husband's claim for his PPI before he married her. Oh well it is what it is.. I have other PPI's to look at on store cards and catalogues.. I will think carefully about doing this myself and may use a company for future PPI..0

The problem is that your complaint reason is the weakest of them all and could easily be rejected, as there is no evidence.
Rather than just reject you, they're seeing if there are any other reason why you may have been mis sold.
Please don't use a company for any future complaints. It's twice as stressful, takes longer, reduces your chances of success and costs you a fortune.
Other than that, they offer marvellous value for money.0 -
zx81.. thank you for your reply.. a company I looked at recently have very good independent reviews and only charge 10% +VAT... no claim no fee... only drawback is they only work on loans and credit cards, mortgages etc not on store cards or mail order catalogue accounts. I had quite a few of those over the years. All of which insisted on PPI .. i t was added to your account from day one, never asked for and they would not remove.0

So you think that using a firm who makes a complaint for you without your permission and takes a cut of your refund that you could have kept if you had complained directly is a good idea?
Your friends have got lucky with simple cases or auto-payments, a claims firm is obviously not going to know your details, beyond what you gave them initially so if they deal with the lender on your behalf, how do you know what they are saying is truthful or accurate? They may even harm your case by making things up that the bank can show is wrong.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The bottom line is that it is ALWAYS easier to do it yourself.
You can always make a charitable contribution to a claims company afterwards if you want to.
But at least you won't have paid them to damage your chances of success.0
