Neighbour wants to tap into our domestic water supply

Are the moorings privately owned? If so presumably the requested water supply will increase the value.0

In what way is this "old adage" relevant to the OP?
As the OP is not metered, but they were being offered payment for the estimated usage, then the OP would have been 'in pocket' if they accept the offer.
However, as other people have said, if the water board find out, they may well put them on a water meter, thus ending in tears.
I feel the old adage is very apt in this situation.0 -
Apart from a big NO..... I would not even go down the route of a hosepipe either before you know they constantly are using the hosepipe.
If they can afford a boat they can afford the water connection cost. Taking the p**** comes to mind.0 -
Another no - what happens when the moorage is sold with the connected-to-your-supply water link, and how would you be able to shut off their supply in the event of any leak/transfer of ownership?0

Just to update - have phoned Thames Water who said it would be illegal. They need to apply for a standpipe licence apparently - and I've let them know. Thanks again for all the replies - really helpful!0

Ignoring all the legalities, even if one was tempted to do something like this, can you imagine the frustration of having no water pressure every time you jump in the shower to a dribble because they've got all their taps on full chat all day long.
Based on that alone it could end up messy after they've paid for all the work and you then change your mind.0 -
You did the right thing asking and double checking. Good callrachelleigh73 wrote: »Just to update - have phoned Thames Water who said it would be illegal. They need to apply for a standpipe licence apparently - and I've let them know. Thanks again for all the replies - really helpful!0
