selling my house privately - what do i do?

I have searched forums and can only see stuff relating to EA's, so sorry if this has been answered somewhere else.
I'm in the process of moving out of my house into fiance's and have been approached by the daughter of a lady on my street, who is keen to buy my house. My house isn't on the market yet and hasn't been valued either. I've said I will contact this lass once I've had the valuation done, but don't know where to proceed from there if she is definitely interested. Is it just a case of us both engaging solicitors to deal with the whole thing or is it more complicated/risky than that? I would assume that I would give her a deadline anyway, and if she couldn't show definite interest or progress by then, I would market it, but if we do proceed privately I don't want to be left dealing with a complicated, drawn out procedure in the months leading up to my wedding!
Does anyone have any experience of similar situations? Thanks.
