Are they both as effective? Seem to have same ingredients but Tesco is made in India is only difference I can see. Boots seems Midway between the 2 pricewise.

I never buy branded medication if there is an own brand alternative with the same ingredients. the same ingredients is the clue0

Worth noting that medicines will have a PL (product license) number printed on the box - compare the two medicines if they have the same PL number the contents are identical. Many cheaper cold/flu meds have the same license as the dearer ones and so are de facto the same.0

And those products may even be by the same brand, with different pricing: e.g. "****fen Rapid Relief" versus "****fen Joints Relief" (made up names). Joints Relief might be an additional 20% over the cost of the Rapid Relief, but the PL identical. You're just paying for the packaging (and marketing budget!).Worth noting that medicines will have a PL (product license) number printed on the box - compare the two medicines if they have the same PL number the contents are identical. I looked at the Tesco version and it hasn't got a PL number on it anywhere inc the leaflet inside though the active ingredient is the same0

It depends on how susceptible you are to the Placebo Effect. If you really think that an expensive brand is better than a cheap supermarket version then it probably will be more effective. For some people even the packaging can have an effect - in the same way that the same wine from an expensive looking bottle can take better than when served from a jug.
On the other hand, if you know the marketing is a load of tosh then just go for the cheapest version.0 -

Aagh with my poor eyesight it just merged with the post code, I can see it now! It's different to the Imodium PL which is 15513/0309, what's the signifcance of that? Tesco is £1.75 for 12, £1 for 6 tablets. Bizarrely Imodium is £5.75 (special offer reduced from £6.50) for 12, yet £2.50 for 6 tablets ie £5 for 12 tablets if you buy 2x 6 @£2.50! I've bought the Tesco anyway, hopefully there won't be a placebo effect if I'm called upon to use them!0 -

I bought the Tesco ones (Or maybe Asda) for our recent trip to Sri lanka, Luckily I didn't need to take any, so can't comment on if they are just as good!0
