Adverse Possession - Help Please!!

Okay, so I’m not entirely sure whether this is the right place to post this question or not as I’m totally new to the forum.

I have just discovered that a strip of a paddock we own has been adversely possessed, for the requisite time and the possessor Intends to register possessory title to the land through the Land Registry. After doing a bit of digging we discovered that the ‘person’ in possession is a company, with two directors, who two all intent and purposes set up the company with the intention of adversely possessing not just this strip of land but other unregistered parcels of land and property.

Is it legal for a company to be formed for the sole purpose of claiming the land of others by this method ?

Also —

I am afraid that another strip of land may be at risk, the land is registered with the Land Registry however I think that upon first registration on 2002 the boundary was incorrectly marked, meaning and 4 metre wide strip of land isn’t shown on our title plan but we know it belongs to us, what can we do to safeguard without having deeds to show we do and have owned it for a considerable length of time.

Thank you in advance

How do you ‘know’ you own the land? Submit what ever evidence you have to the Land Registry and seek to register the land/correct your title.

Alternatively, make an application for adverse possession yourself.

So your question is "Is it legal to setup a company to acquire land in ways the law specifically allows?" I would say the answer has to be yes.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

I can't see any reason why it wouldn't, given that adverse possession is a perfectly legal process.

    Which is just as well...

How do you know this? Have you been adversely possessing it, by any chance?

How did you not notice they were using it?

I think they have to show they've had exclusive access (12 years?) - didn't you notice a fenced off area? If you've also been using the area then I don't think they have a case.
