Cel ccj

Hi all,
I recently received a CCJ from Northampton Court for a parking fine early last year, I did receive the threat letters from CEL and ignored them (wrongly I know) and was waiting for the claim form so I could prepare my defense and fight it. I never received this and got the default judgement letter through the door Friday.
I am aware of applying for a set aside as I have read a few other CEL CCJ related threads, but I have no good reason for not replying to claim form other than I didn't receive it, which I can imagine the courts get a lot and would put me on the back foot with them straight away.
They are wanting a payment of £291 and the CCJ was issues 7th Jan. Would you guys advise still going for the set aside?
Thanks

I would, but that is because it would grate with me to tell anyone to pay CEL, ever!
The easiest method would be to pay them within the 30 days though...
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have thought of just paying it and being done with it. But the thought of giving these people my money for a fine on a free car park really makes me cringe especially knowing its my fault for thinking it would just "go away"0

Not receiving the court claim is a perfectly reason to get it set aside but it will be your job to go to a hearing and be heard to say this, and satisfy the Judge that the claim was never served, and that you have grounds to defend the claim if reset/CCJ set aside.
