Very.co.uk late payment..

Hi,
I just thought I'd get some advice a very.co.uk late payment (by 3 days).
I got a text message from very today stating I'd missed a payment which was due on Friday 11th January and that I needed to pay it today.
I called them up and spoke to a pretty rude "advisor" who said there was no direct debit setup on my account?? I told her that I'd not cancelled it and the only thing that happened around the time it was "cancelled" was that I switched my bank account to Nationwide.
Very by all accounts had taken 1 payment from my new bank account and then "cancelled" the direct debit? I can still see the direct debit is setup on my new bank account too so it is still setup.
The "advisor" had told me I would have been told about this and the only correspondence I've found in my email is a "You have a message waiting on your account" - I don't think this is enough to highlight the importance of the matter regarding a direct debit?!
My question is, due to this issue with the direct debit which has caused me to miss a payment by 3 days, will I receive a late payment charge & more importantly, will I receive a late payment marker on my credit file?
TLDR;
- Text from very.co.uk advising a missed a payment (due Fri 11th Jan) and needed to be paid today
- Logged into my account, paid the minimum payment (£7)
- Called to find out why the minimum payment wasn't taken by DD
- Advised no DD is setup (although my banking app suggests otherwise)
- Will I receive a late payment marker on my credit file for a 3 day late payment?
- If so, will is cause a problem getting future credit?
Thanks

Probably yes, and potentially yes.

Am I correct in thinking that if the direct debit was cancelled correctly, they'd have told the bank and the direct debit wouldn't be showing as active in my online banking?0
