Hitting Debris on Motorway

Hi guys,

Thanks for any help in advance, appreciate you taking the time to help out.

I hit some debris from a lorry at 70mph (it’s the footing from an unloading arm) which has done some big damage to my car (my Sump is destroyed and I’m soon finding out whether there’s anything higher than that). The highway people cannot see the lorry dropping the debris or me hitting it on their CCTV which is a bummer but I can’t decide whether to go through insurance or not (as I cannot find a bird party to claim against). Has anyone got any advice on this situation or how to proceed? I’m aware it might just have to come out of my pocket/insurance but I was wondering if there are any other routes.

I’m a bit bummed out since it’s damaged my car but of course I’m just glad it was my car that took the damage and not me.

Thanks again in advance.

    Your options are
    1. Claim from the lorry insurers.
    2. Sue Highways Agency if you feel they were negligent for not removing it.
    3. Claim on your insurance
    4. Pay out of your own pocket.

As you cannot identify 1 and 2 is unlikely to succeed you are left with 3 and 4.

Not worth claiming for a few hundred pounds worth of damage, unless it is more?
