Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off dumpling
Non productive day, housework wise, for me yesterday.
DH and I spent most of the day doing a jigsaw. It was lovely to do something together, I was surprised how much he did manage.
Thoughts to all those finding life difficult. If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -

Ruby - In my short time in Manchester so far, I've realised that a teacake has 2 meanings within the UK. So do you mean teacake as in a Tunnocks style teacake, with the chocolate, biscuit and marshmallow type filling? Or do you mean the type of savoury teacake you would have with bacon and the likes? The later is completely new to me!
I think you will find there is a 3
A teacake for me is a current bun that you toast and have with butter
everyday's a skool day eh

Morning everyone. Not a good night sleep I feel blurry. Working later. Up early as dd went to breakfast club again I will go to the gym in a bit. Dishwasher is on there is washing in the washer but it’s not full so will wait for later
I am going to go to the bank and move some money in to my savings account as I am getting no interest on my account.0 -
Yes SPEKY you need to use a preface to avoid confusion. There's a chocolate teacake (like Tunnocks), currant teacakes which are delicious toasted and liberally spread with butter, and a plain teacake (either white or brown) which are usually used for a savoury sandwich. In some areas though the plain teacake is called a barm cake to add to the confusion!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Another one who had a bad night. I started reading a Quintain Jardine book yesterday, could not put it down, so subsequently it was very late when I put the light off. Then I just could not get off. Think I dropped off about 6am, to be woken by a workman just after 8am, who had come to measure a window we need replaced, the secondary glazing has failed.
OH is going to the Evergreens today, so I am meeting DD2 for a coffee, have a couple of things I need to get whilst I am in town.
Supposed to be having liver and bacon tonight......... we may have something else!!
Bed stripped and in the washer, its a fine morning so I may get the sheets out for a blow on the line.......OH says its cold, but the wind has dropped. Need to remake the bed and shove the Dyson round the bedroom, flisk a duster at the dust. No sign of a cleaner as yet which leaves me in a bit of a hole.........0 -

OOh I've not had a currant teacake for ages.We always had them when I lived at home with my parents.Incidentally my Mum and Gran always used to call barms flour cakes but I've not heard that for a long time
When we were in the Lakes just after NYear, the hotel had a Tunnocks teacake each for us with the tea /coffee in our room -very nice it was too.Hadnt had one of those for years!
DH & DS2 have gone off to work, though they are both still coughing but hopefully after nearly 2 weeks they aren't infectious anymore. After 3 weeks of them at home,I need to do some serious tidying in a bit. I got a bit rained on during dogwalking but the sky seems to have cleared now so it'll be getting colder no doubt. I think we shall have pork chops tonight.I need to sort the freezers too,I'm not sure what meat we have left,& they get in such a jumble when everyone is digging in.
Happy thoughts winging their way to everyone xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

Morning chums just about to go to book club, for a change I had an audio book this month and it was great as it meant I could multi-task so I finished off my DGS's wifes blanket while listening to the book very good it was as well Elizabeth is Missing which was really a good listen

The blanket is going to NYC next month with my DD as her and her OH are off to see my DGS Danny and his wife for a week. Its her birthday in May so DD will take the blanket and wrap it for my when she gets there as customs make you open up parcels when you arrive in the U.S. at the moment
I am hoping that this months book I will be able to get on audio as it really is quite relaxing just knitting and listening to the story.
Freezer diving for tonights dinner so it will be pot luck what I find :0
Tomorrow is U3A coffee morning, and quiz night tomorrow night so a busy start to the week.
No shopping to buy at least this week as I have more than enough in stock and I am in belt tightening mode as I have just paid my tax bill
I have two apple and cinnamon muffins to have today which DGS Jack got me from work yesterday He has a part-time job when he is home from Uni in a coffee shop, and they make super muffins great exchange for me as I run him to work when he is on shift to save his bus fare.He is back to Uni this Saturday though until Easter and we will all miss him
Right time to get a wriggle on
have a good day chums and keep warm and dry if possible ,lovely and sunny here in Kent at the moment

Nelski and TA, mmm toasted teacake, my favourite, I especially love the giant ones we get from Betty's in Ilkley (although I don't eat them whole as they're about 9" diameter). The blood sugar diet has me craving bread at times.
dumpling, I'm finding healthier eating more expensive, not that we ate unhealthily before but I'm now buying more organic things and the chicken we had for dinner last night was £15 rather than £4.
Laura and Ziggy have gone home and I'm finding myself looking around for the puplet a lot of the time. She'll be back next week because they're off to Glasgow for the weekend as it's Brian's mum's 60th.
We're going to yoga this morning and then I need to clear some of thee debris left by Laura. She's been going through the possessions she left here so we have rather a lot to go to the charity shop. It's only been 8 years since she finally moved out!0 -
Morning all, I have been up since 3 so may end up having a nap though I would prefer not to.
A dull but windy day again, at least no actual rain.
I need to do bedlinen and hoovering today. Other than that, my day is my own.
TA I hope you have a good day, not surprising that you are feeling down, please take care of yourself.
Speky what does the phrase eating frogs mean? Teacakes for me are the currant buns that are toasted and served with butter.
Thinkng of all of us who are struggling.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
