Hi everyone
I have just upgraded to Smart Security from Nod32 Anti-Virus. My firewall used to be Zone Alarm Pro. I have got numerous anti-spy packages and wondered if I really need them all. I'll list what I have got:-
AVGAS - Paid for
Ad-Aware 2007 Pro - Paid for
Spybot Search and Destroy - Free
SpywareBlaster - Free
SpywareGuard - Free
Windows Defender - Free
I also run C Cleaner regularly.
Does this seem a bit like overkill?
I'd be grateful for your thought on this.
Many thanks

Ummm, yes. I've always used Spybot and then Adaware for a second opinion. No need to have so many at the same time.0

Well as long as you run the programs, then no.. However, I am not sure that ALL of them are necessary certainly in the Startup of your PC
Personally, I would leave AVGAS and Ad-aware as you've paid for them, and use the schedules to run at differing times from each other, and then do a Defender and CCleaner run one a week.
Give yourself a gold star for taking PC security seriously though, you'd be surprised how many don't0 -

All I would say is check the official forum for NOD as they are releasing updates to get over one or two niggles.

The Anti virus has already had two updates and is now on 3.0.5630 -
Thanks for all your replies.
Hobo28 and RedRoseExile - thanks for your suggestions.
Reluctant_Spender - Thanks for the link to Wilders. I do look on there quite often because I also have Acronis True Image and their forum is on there too.
Thanks a lot0 -
Get rid of them all apart From ESET. There's little point having several things checking the same stuff and they can actually conflict each other and REDUCE your protection.0

Smart security just updated to 3.0.563 as well...
Fixes the OE open bug and random pictures blocked bug.0 -
Conor - I knew that was true about Firewalls and Anti-viruses but is it also true about anti-spy software?0

It can be but only if you have the real time protection for all of them turned on and aren't loaded at boot up etc."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
