max interest free periods

I have just got a NW cash back card and have expressed (on here) my annoyance of realising I only have 46 days interest free period.

Just got my statement today 1st June, payment due 11th June, please allow 7 working days for cheques to clear.

There are only 7 working days available to me, let alone trying to allow them 7 working days.

I am not a credit card tart so I have not much experience here, can you tell me of other cards with small interest free periods same or less than 46 days? I intend to write a letter of complaint about the rediculously short time given to pay.

No matter what your comebacks to flame me with about this that or the other, fact is if they treated this card like any (most) other cards on the market then there would be no problem in paying on time.

Does anyone know their reasons for the reduced 46 day period?

The safest thing to do is set up a Direct Debit then it is their responsibility to collect the money in time.

Wig, it sounds like you have the NW cashback card which gives 0.25% cashback (0.5% in the first 6 months). NW also do a Classic/Gold Card and a Comic Relief affinity card both of which offer up to 56 days interest free credit. NW will change your card type if you ring and ask- they dont do another credit check.

If you particularly wanted a cashback card have a look at the cards from Conran, CitiBank, Morgan Stanley and Amex, all of which offer longer interest free periods (around 56 days but I dont have the figures to hand) and cashback of between 0.5%-2%.

    Thankyou Chadsman,

I do intend to switch to a comic relief one after the initial 6 months, because it will not be worth all this hassle for the sake of 0.25% cashback.

They (NW) even take 5 days to clear a payment made with cash at the branch! what century are we in again?
