Aqua card new card no interest free period.

Hello,

Got an Aqua card at christmas, was preaproved and went through to their own site did their own precheck and then the actual application at each step it said it was a 6 months 0% interest free period promotion..

Card arrived fine, used it through christmas, made a small payment back with a view to clearing the balance prior to interest kicking in..

So, checked my statement today and interest has been applied..Called up and was informed that I dont have any interest free period on my card! I confirmed that at all stages of the application thats what I was applying for..and was informed what you apply for and what you get may be two different things..

The personal details agreement that came with my card isnt much help..under the heading 'promotional rate' it doesnt actually say 0% or indeed N/A it simply says 'whatever we told you at the time'..Well I took that as being what I read infront of my face when I responded to their offer which clearly said 0% for six months..Ive made a complaint but am not too hopeful..

Is this not irresponsible behaviour? There was nothing to indicate I wasn't getting the promotion I applied and was preaproved for..If they then dont give you that offer, shouldn't they state in black and white on your personal details document that it doesnt apply to you..What exactly 'Whatever we told you at the time' mean, what time? They didnt tell me anything..There was nothing to indicate that actually your not having the offer we made you..bizaare way of operating

Really dissapointed.

Any advice?

  • Are you sure it wasn't 6 months 0% on B/T,s and not 6 months 0% on purchases, some credit card providers are a bit sketchy with their deals, offering 32 months interest free and then giving you 12 months or less. I have not had that happen to me but I can see how it would be disappointing.

Personally I would never apply for a crappy Aqua card, the deals are garbage and the interest rate is worse than the payday loan scumbags.

Don't think you'll get anywhere with complaint it will be in their T & C,s best thing to do is pay it off and bin the card.
  • They may have advertised 0% interest but it’s down to personal circumstance whether you actually qualify for it.

Maybe in this instance your profile didn’t qualify for the promo offer

They did this to me too. I applied because of an interest free BT period but was charged interest on my first statement. I called, they said they'd look into it, and then I received a letter a couple of weeks later confirming the interest free period and a refund. They raised my interest rate once the interest free period had ended though (I hadn't missed any payments, never went over my limit etc) so I paid the card off and I haven't used it since. I thought this was very underhand and sneaky so I won't use the card.

Omlyfools> Yes I'm sure it was on purchases..They still advertising yhe same deal now.

Gary> I get that, but surely they should tell you at some point..The only mention of the promotional rate on my personlised agreement is as I say 'Whatver we told you at the time' which could mean anything really...

Cakecrusader> yes they seem very sneaky and underhand sadly..why not simple state clearly you didnt get the offer you applied for..Have to see how it goes for now..If they dont honour it, then I'll clear it asap and wont use their sevices in future..
