Hope someone can help....
I've been given a laptop that I'd like to give to son for Xmas - but I don't want it to look so hand-me-down.
Is there a quick way of getting rid of all the past users 'stuff'? At the moment when it starts up it has her name on it and all her documents.
Also, is there something I can use to 'tart-up' the actual laptop? Remove minor scuffs etc to the black bits.
Thanks for any help

For small cosmetic scratches, you might want to try Plastex Plastic repair, not too difficult to use
To be fair, your quickest and easiest way clear all your daughters stuff off would be to reformat the hard drive and re-install windoze with him as main user, it will save a lot of hassle in the long run.
Just make sure that you back her stuff up first. The last thing you want is her asking where such and such is and you've gone and removed it0 -
Thanks for the tips Red Rose Exile, I don't have any of the discs that came with the laptop - it was from a friend, she gave it away because she couldn't remember the password so bought a new laptop (!)Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

Isn't that like losing your car keys so you buy a new car?
Can you get into windows then? Or is the Windows serial key sticker on the laptop. If you have a serial key it may be possible to borrow the same version of Windows disc off someone and use your serial key to reinstall."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Thought we could all get into windows, even without knowing the password http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/
and if you did not want people to, then you would encrypt it!GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.0 -
